Sikh Community to Launch Nation Wide Humanitarian Campaign in Nepal

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC, the apex Sikh organization from Amritsar has organized a committee to inquire about the damage caused by intensive earthquake in Nepal. The committee comprises various senior leaders who will work with Nepal Government to provide assistance and humanitarian relief to areas of the country.

While talking with Sikh24 exclusively, SPGC President Avtar Makkar said that the committee is already on its way to Nepal. He has asked the SGPC committee members to prepare a detailed report on the damage so next strategy for help could be planned.

“The SGPC will always remains ready to help the victims of natural disasters irrespective of caste and creed,” he added.  “Over 100,000 meals have already been sent to Nepal by the SGPC alone, while help by other organization is also on its way.”

Sikh organizations from Punjab and other parts of the country have already started humanitarian relief projects. Along with the SGPC, it’s counterpart from Delhi, Khalsa Aid (UK) and Sikh Awareness Foundation (Canada) are also providing humanitarian relief in Nepal.
