SULTANPUR LODHI, Punjab—Sikh24 has learned that in order to ensure arrest of Satkar Committee activists, Punjab Police has started to illegitimately harass their family members including women and children.

It has been learnt that the Police is trying its best to arrest Satkar Committee chief Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khosa. Lohian Police have deployed 4 constables permanently inside the house of the activist, while his father Sawaran Singh has been in illegal Police custody for 4 days.

Sources said that Police had arrested the father of Khosa on April 22 from his residence and kept what police station he has been detained in secret. Besides, Khosa’s father, another relative Shingara Singh from village Rauva (Tehsil Dharamkot) has also been detained by the Police illegally.

Police personnel are staying in the bedrooms of Khosa’s residence in civil dress and are not allowing anyone to photograph them. They are not allowing Khosa’s daughters and wife to speak to anybody. Sources further said cops are threatening even migrant labourers in the village of Khosa. Human rights activists demand that detained family members be produced in court as per law.

On the other hand, DSP and SHO of Sultanpur Lodhi denied all these facts claiming nobody from the family of the Satkar Committee chief is being harassed by the Police.

It is worth mentioning that including Khosa a number of Satkar Committee activists have been booked under various sections for beating Pathis who had done Akhand Path Sahib at a prohibited place, committing sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and violating edict of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Some activists have been arrested by the Police, whereas others are still at large.
