Police Arrests Four Members of Satkar Committee near Tarn Taran

Satkar Committee Draws Flake for Thrashing Men ‘Mercilessly’TARN TARAN, Punjab—Charged with allegedly demolishing the ‘Kabar’ (burial shrine) of Peer Sher Shah Wali in village Gill Waraich and assaulting the village president, local Police has arrested four members of the Satkar Committee.

Talking to media persons, DSP Sukhwinder Singh claimed that members of  the Satkar Committee had demolished the ‘Kabar’ with a JCB machine and assaulted the village head, Manohar Singh, for which the Satkar Committee had been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The arrested comprised Balbir Singh, Pal Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Kulwinder Singh.

It is notable that members of Satkar Committee had uploaded a video on social media of beating Pathis ‘mercilessly’ for committing disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib and violating edict of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The act drew flak from various sections of society following which Police filed cases against the members of the committee.

  1. There is a proper way to deal with deviant practices – not thrashing elderly pathis and/or through slapping and removing their turbans. Hope these so called religious police “satkar committee members” are thrashed the same way to give them a taste of their own medicine.
