TARN TARAN, Punjab—Led by Bhai Tarlochan Singh Gagobuha and Sukhjinder Singh Lohian, members of various chapters of Satkar Committees assembled in Jhabhal town where they organized a press conference wherein they justified their act of thrashing Pathis ‘mercilessly’ for committing disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib and violating edict of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Daring the government, they said that their organization is a registered body and works as per maryada of Akal Takht Sahib.
They condemned the negative remarks made against them by SGPC president Avtar Makkar, Damdami Taksal (Mehta) chief Giani Harnam Singh Dhuma and former Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti.
They held a minister of Punjab responsible for the incident explaining that they had filed a complaint to administration but latter did not take any action to restrain the objectionable activity of conducting Akhand Path Sahib on prohibited spot. They clarified that after Bhog ceremony of Akhand Path Sahib held on March 29, members of their organization sought clarification from accused Granthi Singhs and Pathis, and a Granthi named Mahinder Singh scolded them that compelled them to thrash them (Pathis).
Satkar Committee explained further, “Same day, on their intervention, respective Granthi Singhs appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and latter again ordered them to appear on April 4. But nobody appeared before Akal Takht Sahib except Granthi Lashman Singh.” Justifying their act, they stated that Satkar Committees had to do what should be done by caretakers of Panth.
As soon as Satkar Committee leaders left from here after the press conference concluded, Police went for raid at Tarlochan Singh’s residence.
