Day 100: Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Struggle Continues; Police Refuses To Release Son

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike has entered its 100th day and he is steadfast about the demand of seeking release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed their terms.  It is important to mention that he was released from the Ludhiana Civil Hospital jail two days ago however his son, Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi, remains lodged behind bars.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa was released from police custody as his health had deteriorated.  It is being alleged that police did not want to take responsibility if anything was to happen to Bapu Ji; hence he was released and all charges were dropped.

Family was expecting release of Ravinder Singh Gogi yesterday.  Jail authorities claimed that they have no orders to release Ravinder Jeet Singh.  It is important to mention that Ravinder Jeet Singh is a US citizen, and was arrested for inciting his father to commit suicide.  He is yet to be presented in the court.

A panthik meeting has been called in Hassanpur, Ludhiana, at Bapu Ji’s residence on April 26 at 10 AM.
