Day 99: Government Oppression Fails To Deter Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Commitment

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bibi Sarvinder Kaur has stated that the Punjab Government tried to destroy Bapu Ji’s struggle however they could not deter his commitment to the movement.  She made this statement after Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa was released from the Ludhiana Civil Hospital Jail.

“Bapu Ji remains committed to the cause and since being released from the hospital, he has not eaten anything,” she told Sikh24.  “He is physically very weak, however he is full of joy and excitement as he is doing darshan of Sikh Sangat after months.”

She said that Bapu Ji was unable to sleep last night due to immense pain his body.  She told Sikh24 that bleeding has continued, and family is seeking a complete medical checkup of Bapu Ji.

“There should be no doubt that the sangarsh is not over,” she added.  “Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is committed as ever to seek release of Sikh political prisoners.  Until their release, he will continue hunger strike.”

It is important to mention that despite orders by President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Punjab Police has continued to deploy its forces outside the residence of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.  He therefore remains under a virtual “house arrest”.
