BATHINDA, Punjab—Union minister and Sukhbir Badal’s wife Harsimrat Badal today raised eyebrows when she expressed unawareness about human rights activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is sitting on hunger strike since January 16. Bapu Surat Singh is struggling for the permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite completion of their terms.
Harsimrat on Tuesday organized Sangat Darshan programme where she made the comment on Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. While issue of hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is being raised by Sikhs and human rights activists on international level, the daughter-in-law of Punjab chief minister Parkash Badal said that “I don’t know who is Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa”.
She was replying to a questions asked by a journalist during the programme. She further said that she had not had any information about Bapu Khalsa nor about his hunger strike.
In view of popularity gained by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa on international level, she seemed telling a lie in this regard. It suggests that her entire family is not sincere in resolving issue of Sikh political prisoners.
I am told that BADAL is the name of a village in PUNJAB[India]. The village must be full of BRAHMINS Hindu [High Cast people]. As the Chief Minister of punjab is using [Badal]as his Surname. I wonder if he is in reality BRAHMIN.
