IRELAND—Northern Ireland’s first ever Sikh candidate to run in the General Election duped Ed Miliband on a train and it was all captured on camera.
Amandeep Singh Bhogal a member of the conservative party, is running to become the MP for Upper Bann – the seat has been held by the DUP’s David Simpson since 2005.
The former diplomat and Northern Ireland Tory parliamentary candidate took the internet by storm recently as he met the leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband on a train.
The 31-year-old was born in India and grew up in Kent, England and is married with two children.
The interaction was caught on camera with Bhogal appearing to pose for pictures with the Leader of the Opposition.
Mr Miliband can be heard asking Mr Bhogal : “Are you going to make sure the Sikh vote turns out for us?”
He replies: “Well I’m going to make sure the Sikh vote turns out” before saying, “I would not worry about the polls at all” as he produces a mask of Nicola Sturgeon the leader of the Scottish National Party, from his pocket.
The video ends as Mr Miliband rolls his eyes.
The video has been shared numerous times online and prompted a series of comments from social media users.
