Dhuri Elections: April 11 Declared As Paid Holiday To Encourage Voting

dhuri

SANGRUR, Punjab—In view of the upcoming by-poll in Dhuri, the State Government has declared April 11 as a paid holiday.

Polling will take place the same day in Dhuri.  The move has been taken to encourage Government employees to cast their votes.

Government offices, shops, factories and other places in Dhuri will remain closed throughout the day.

Dhuri elections will be a close contest between S. Surjit Singh Kalabula of Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Gobind Singh Longowal of Akali Dal (Badal). These elections are important as the outcome might give Akali Dal (B) a majority in Punjab, without inclusion of BJP seats.
