Appointment of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib’s president may be reviewed: Maharashtra Chief Minister

Tara SinghAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has stated that the decision of appointing BJP MLA Tara Singh as president of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib’s management board may be reviewed due to the outrage expressed in the Sikh community.

Mr. Fadnavis made the statement during his visit to Sri Darbar Sahib, while talking to media personnel. He was accompanied by Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde.

He said that he would talk to Punjab chief minister Parkash Badal over the issue.  He will then discuss the issue with other concerned leaders. He then said that ” the Maharashtra government will decide about the appointment whatever the decision will be.”

However, he favored Tara Singh saying that letter was from an honest person and all politicians of Mumbai respected him.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP government has appointed Tara Singh on the post regardless of the fact that Tara Singh had not even filed nomination for this post, nor was he a member of the board. He is non-Amritdhari and violates Sikh Rehat Maryada. Throughout the world, Sikhs irked over the move and they term the move as grave interference in Sikh affairs by RSS, a right wing Hindu fascist force.
