Over 2,500 Letters Sent to US Government Seeking Justice for Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa

NEW YORK—Over 2,500 letters have been sent to US Government officials condemning the arrest of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa and his son Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi.  Ravinder Jeet Singh is a US citizen while his dad is a US permanent resident.  The petition was launched this past week in the United States.

There has been tremendous support to the petition, and Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike have signed it to express their support and condemn the recent arrests in India.

As can be seen from some of the comments on the petition website, people are furious over the wrongful arrests and have appealed to the US Government to intervene immediately.

The petition can be signed online at www.FreeSikhPrisoners.com/petition

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is a human rights activist from California.  He started a peaceful hunger strike on January 16 at his home, in Punjab, India to seek release of some Sikh political prisoners who have completed their sentences, however still continue to be detained unlawfully.  Bapu Surat Singh and his son were both arrested by the police on February 26, 2015, and have been detained under fabricated charges.
