—A direct rail connecting Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib was introduced today.
The new train was flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal jointly. Suresh Prabhu stated that he is working with the Punjab Government to connect more religious places in Punjab and in other states. He said that the train linking Anandpur Sahib with Amritsar was a long pending demand of the Sikh community.
Prabhu added that the train will start running regularly from Vaisakhi this year. He stated that the new train will have air-conditioned cabins and general class accommodations.
The new train will start from the Nangal Dam, located about 19 kms from Anandpur Sahib, and have stops at Kurali, Morinda, Samrala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
