FARIDKOT, Punjab—Led by ‘Pehredar’ editor-in-chief Jaspal Singh Heran, Sikh activists are firm to hold the second ‘Vangar March’ for permanent release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite completion of their terms.

The first “Vangar March” took place on March 1 from Jagraon to Ludhiana, but the Badal led Punjab government banned the march half way.  Number of Sikh leaders, including Jaspal Singh Heran, Panch Pardhani leader Jasvir Singh Khandur and SAD (A) leader Bapu Tarlok Singh Dalla and others were detained. Due to these detentions, the march could not reach Ludhiana.  A second march will now be organized on March 3 in Faridkot.

As per the schedule, the march will start from Gurdwara Khalsa Diwan and conclude at Mini Secretariat.

In order to make the march successful, various Panthik leaders including Surjit Singh Arayan, Jathedar Karmajit Singh Sikhanwala (both from Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar), Rupinder Singh (Ek Noor Khalsa Fauj), Bhai Daler Singh Dod (All India Sikh Students Federation Mehta), Joginder Singh (Panthik Sewa Lehar) held a meeting here to chalk out the strategy.

This procession is being organized in wake of hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.
