AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Responding to the popular question, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president, Avtar Makkar, has denied any possibility of implementation of Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of conduct) which had accepted by Sikhs across the world.  Makkar was recently elected as president of management committee of Takht Sri Patna Sahib (Bihar).

In a press conference, Makkar said difference in Maryada of Takht Sri Patna Sahib from that of Akal Takht Sahib has been existed for centuries and any haste should not be made in this direction.

“The focus would be on kar sewa of buildings of the Takht Sahib. Top priority will be given to development of nearby areas of Takht Sahib. The development projects will be completed on priority in view of celebrations of 350th birth anniversary of Tenth Sikh Master Sri Guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji,” he said, adding, “help of SGPC and other Sikh organizations will also be taken for the projects. I requested Punjab chief minister Parkash Badal to take this up with the Bihar government.”
