Sikh Relief Condemns Series of “Fabricated Cases” Against Bagicha Singh Waraich

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Over a period of 5 years (from 2007-2012), the police has charged Bagicha Singh Waraich with 7 different fabricated cases, in order to keep him caught in the ‘system’ for years to come.

The first case was registered against him in 2007 when Bagicha Singh took part in a local area shutdown in a protest against the cult leader, Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The police arrested and falsely charged Bagicha Singh for attacking a police officer and sent him to Patiala Jail.

Later in 2012, shortly after the arrest of Baba Bakshish Singh, Bagicha Singh was falsely charged with the attempted murder of Gurmeet Ram Rahim. With the help of the sangat, Sikh Relief funded Bagicha Singh’s legal costs and progressed the case until he was granted bail release. Upon his release, with the help of the Sangat’s donations, Sikh Relief purchased a new Discover 100t Motorcycle as part of Bagicha Singh’s rehabilitation package. He was then able to resume his work as a property consultant and rebuild his life after being imprisoned for so long.

Although he returned home in September 2013, the remaining cases are still ongoing. Yesterday in Samana, he was present in court to hear testimony against him, by Inspector Satnam Singh and Ashok Kumar. However, due to MC elections taking place, the hearing did not take place and the next date has been set for June 5, 2015.
