Hunger Strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Concludes 15th Day; Prominent Sikhs Express Support

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa concluded 15th day today. Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa is on hunger strike Since January 16 for the permanent release of Sikh detainees who have already completed their life sentences but are still languishing in different jails of India. Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa took this initiative to fulfill the commitments made by Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib of Ambala.

Sikh Intellectual Dr. Bhagwan Singh also visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. Dr. Bhagwan Singh highly appreciated the care for fulfilling the ardas by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.

Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal also visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa at his residence along with large number of Singhs. Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal appreciated the contribution of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa towards for the high spirit of Sikh nation. He also appreciated the initiative of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa to fulfill the commitments made during the Ardas by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh.

Senior Vice President of Sikh Youth Front Bhai Sukhjeet Singh has also reached Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa to support the struggle. Bhai Sukhjeet Singh Khela said that Sikhs were running away from their Panthik dutues. He said that breaking promises made in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib is a sin, but the now a days nobody cares about it. He told Sikh24 that he admired the initiative of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa for the permanent release of Sikh detainees.
