UK Sikhs Invited to Sikh Manifesto Launch on January 31

LONDON, UK—Sikhs living across UK have been invited to the launch of the Sikh Manifesto.  The launch of the Sikh Manifesto and 50 target seats is expected to attract widespread national mainstream media interest as well as coverage by all our own Sikh and Punjabi media. The Sikh Manifesto when released will be a comprehensive document that each of the main political parties is expected to welcome as a positive political development and also endorsed by leading members of the Sikh community.

We are writing to invite representatives from your Gurdwara/organisation to the launch of the historic Sikh Manifesto on Saturday 31 January 2015 that is being hosted at Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Havelock Road, Southall UB2 4NP, between 11.30am and 1.30pm. We will have important dignitaries attending so please try and arrive early at around 11am as the dignitaries will have a very tight schedule.

The Sikh Manifesto has been based on nationwide consultations through meetings and networks and has been written with the May 2015 General Election in mind, but it is unlike the manifestos of the political parties. All Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations will be able to relate to the Sikh Manifesto as it collates the most important areas in which challenges remain for British Sikhs and progress is required.

The Sikh Manifesto when released will be a comprehensive document that each of the main political parties is expected to welcome as a positive political development and also endorsed by leading members of the Sikh community.

Your Gurdwara/organisation will also have an opportunity to formally associate with the Sikh Manifesto and become part of the Sikh Network and the process for monitoring progress and considering strategy over the next five years. With the Sikh Manifesto we will test the commitment of the main political parties and individual politicians to the British Sikh community.

The party leaders for the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and Scottish National Party have had letters so they can inform MPs and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates in the 50 target seats about the launch and subsequent events.

These subsequent events will be at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, High Street, Smethwick, on Saturday 14 February between 1-3pm and concluding with an event in the UK Parliament in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House on Thursday 26 February between 3-5pm. You will also wish to note these dates and times, especially if you are unable to attend the launch.
