Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara Produced in Jalandhar Court, Sent to 5 Days Police Remand

Tara 28JALANDHAR, Punjab—Jalandhar police (rural) on Tuesday brought Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) fighter Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara on production warrant in connection with a case registered in Bhogpur Police station in 2009 under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The police succeeded in getting his five days police remand.

He was produced in the court of Prabhjot Kaur, Civil Judge, Junior Division. Advocate KS Hundal, lawyer of Bhai Tara said the police sought 14-days remand but the court only gave permission for 5-days remand. The next hearing will be held on February 1.

In this case, nine of the accused-Manjit alias Jhita, Kuldeep Singh, Amandeep alias Sahota, Ranvir alias Sabi, Dinesh alias Gona, Jaswinder alias Johny, Lovepreet, Amritpal alias Manga, Inderjit, all residents of Jalandhar, and Amarjit Singh of Chandigarh- were acquitted by the court.

During his arrival, several activists of the SAD (Amritsar) gathered outside the court and raised pro-Khalistan slogans to show solidarity with Bhai Tara.
