Historical Departure of Jathedar Nandgarh from Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib

TALWANDI SABO (BATHINDA), Punjab—The departure of Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib left became an enormous event. A huge caravan of Gursikhs let Jathedar Nandgarh enter his home. All the members of Panthik organizations were present on this historical occasion.

It is notable that Jathedar Nandgarh was discharged from his post by the executive body of SGPC. Jathedar was removed because he failed to be show solidarity with Akal Takht Sahib. SGPC member from Sri Anandpur Sahib i.e. Amarjit Singh Chawla played a vital role in his suspension.

Activists of various Panthik organizations pledged on this occasion to finish the influence of RSS on Sikh issues. Many anti-SAD political organizations, Sikh intellectuals and Panthik organizations participated on this occasion. The leaders strictly condemned the SGPC decision of terminating the Nanakshahi Calendar on the point out of RSS.

Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind ans Bhai Baldev Singh Sirsa of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani), Bhai Panthpreet Singh of Gurmat Sewa Lehar, S. Jaspal Singh Heraan (Editor, Rozana Pehredar) and S. Gurinderpal Singh Dhanaula said that it is shameful that the decisions of Sikh issues are being taken from Nagpur via Chandigarh, ignoring the Sikh nation. The leaders said that Jathedar Nandgarh has sacricficed his post for the sake of the Nanakshahi Calendar.

Bhai Dhian Singh Mand of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) said that the suspension of Jathedar Nandgarh is a political decision. He said that it is very shameful that the prominent Sikh organization SGPC is working on the instructions of RSS. He announced to honor Jathedar Nandgarh by Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) on the birthday celebration of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale on 12th February.  S. Kanwarjit Singh Dhami of Dal Khalsa said that such religious decisions again and again made the Sikh nation feel like slaves in India. He said that Sikhs are not independent to take any decision in this country.

All the leaders of participating parties appealed the whole Sikh nation to protest against the Republic Day on 26th January by celebrating it as a Black Day. The leaders requested the Sikh nation to boycott the National Anthem of India i.e. Jan Gan Man on 26th January.
