Capt Amrinder Holds Huge Rally at Amritsar; Slams BJP on Drug Issue

_MG_9600AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In order to raise the issue of drug menace in the state, Punjab former chief minister and Congress MP from Amritsar today held a mega rally under the name of ‘Lalkar Rally’ here at Ranjit Avenue, which received a huge response from the people. The majority of Punjab Congress leaders, MLA’s and former MLA’s attended the rally except its president Partap Singh Bajwa.

Addressing the big gathering, Capt Amrinder Singh slammed BJP saying that its government in center is not sincere in tackling the menace. He said BJP is the party of dual standard and known for playing dirty tricks.

“On one side, BJP leaders lash out at Akalis for igniting the problem of drug menace in Punjab in their statements, but on the other, they hug Akalis to keep enjoying power”, he said.

Pertinently, Capt Amrinder kept his focus on BJP and he criticized Akali Dal in comparatively soft words.

He said if the Modi government wholeheartedly wanted to ban drug trading and break the nexus between police, administration and politicians, it should come up with a national policy.

He said BJP’s anti-farmer face has exposed that it is going to terminate provision of setting minimum support prize for crops. “Its policies give benefits to rich people not to poor ones”, he added.

Political experts observed that the Lalkaar Rally was the biggest rally in past six years at Amritsar.
