BREAKING: Hearing on Petition Seeking Ban on ‘Messenger of God’ Postponed for Jan 27

MSGCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Punjab and Haryana High court today adjourned a hearing on the petition which seeks a ban on the screening of Sirsa cult head’s controversial movie Messenger of God (MSG) by January 27. The petition was filed by Mohali based Sikh organization ‘Kalgidhar Sewak Jatha’.

It is worth mentioning that cult head and self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim has played the role of hero in the movie and the Modi government has granted clearance to the film by pressurizing members of the Indian censor board. Protesting against the clearance, head and 8 members of the board have resigned from the office.

The petition came to the Bench of Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Harpal Verma. However, the Bench has ordered that the petition be presented before that Bench which is to hold a hearing on the petition.

This petition was to be presented before the Bench of Justice KS Mittal and Justice Deepak Sibbal but it was not available in office as one of the Judges was on leave. So a hearing on the plea has been postponed until Jan 27.

In the petition, the above mentioned Sikh organization apprehends that screening of the movie would prove a big threat to peace and law and order.
