TALWANDI SABO (BATHINDA), Punjab—Office bearers of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) who manage affairs of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, on Monday refused to give the Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib to Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh for holding a Sehaj Path at his residence. Following the refusal, Giani Nandgarh brought the holy Saroop from Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib and started the Path.

After being sacked from the post of Jathedar of the Takht Sahib, Giani Nandgarh had decided to hold a Sehaj Path at his official residence to offer thanks to Waheguru for being blessed to render service of Takht Sahib for 12 years. He had announced that he will discard the residence after holding the Path. However, SGPC did not allow him to fulfil his wish.

Sources said that earlier SGPC had sent 2 Pathi Singhs for the Path but they were ordered to come back after some moments. When Giani Nandgarh sent his personal assistant to deposit Rs 4100 for the Path to SGPC office, concerned authority refused to do so.

Sikhs across the world have strongly condemned the move of SGPC.

It is worth mentioning that Jathedar Nandgarh was sacked by the executive panel of SGPC a few days ago by allegedly levelling false allegations against him. Giani Nandgarh took a firm stand in support of the original Nanakshahi Calendar which represents the separate identity of Sikhism. However, his very stand irked saffron force RSS, its ally Akali Dal (Badal) and SGPC. Consequently, he was dismissed.
