Police Don’t Allow the Meeting of Sikh Organizations to Discuss Release of Sikh Detainees

MOHALI, India—Punjab Police did not allow the meeting of Sikh organizations at Gurdwara Amb Sahib for the release of Sikh detainees. Task Force of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee did not let the President of Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee S. Jagdish Singh Jhinda enter Gurdwara Amb Sahib. S. Jhinda was to take part in the meeting to be held on the issue of the release of Sikh detainees by the Sikh organizations.

On 12th January, near about 200 hundred workers of Task Force of SGPC reached Gurdwara Amb Sahib. Sikh organizations like United Akali Dal, United Sikh Movement, Akali Dal (Amritsar), HSGPC President S. Jagdish Singh Jhinda called a meeting at Gurdwara Amb Sahib to plan the next strategy for the release of Sikh detainees. When the activists of Sikh organizations started gathering at Gurdwara Amb Sahib, the police forced them to go back, cancelling their meeting.

President of SGPC, Avtar Makkar said that S. Jhinda does not have any concern with the release of Sikh detainees, he is just trying to play a political stunt. He said that he will never allow him to use the Gurdwara Sahib for this task.
