Sikh Organizations Distressed Over Possible Suspension of Jathedar Nandgarh

BATHINDA, Punjab—Sikh organizations are feeling distressed over the rumors of suspending Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh.

It is notable that SGPC is planning to suspend Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh. Sikh organizations are staunchly favoring Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh. In this concern, a meeting of United Akali Dal was held at Bathinda under the leadership of General Secretary of United Akali Dal Bhai Gurdeep Singh Brar.

Bhai Gurdeep Singh Brar (General Secretary, United Akali Dal), Bhai Baljit Singh Ganga (Distt. President,Eknoor Khalsa Fauj), Bhai Narinder Singh (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Sabha, Goniana Mandi), Baba Fumman Singh, President of Sewa Dal S. Sukhdev Singh jointly said in a press note that the news of suspending Jathedar Nandgarh has deeply distressed them.

They demanded that the issue of Nanakshahi Calendar should be sorted out under the patronage of Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. They suggested the Chief Minister Parkash Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to leave the eagerness of politics and to interfere in the internal matters of the Sikh community. They said that if Jathedar Nandgarh gets suspended, then the issue of the calendar can take a violent turn. The leaders also urged Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma to invent a rational solution for the Nanakshahi Calendar.

Labh Singh Sivian, Pritam Singh Talwandi Kulwant Singh, Ajit Singh Waring, Raghvir Singh Khalsa, Hakam Singh, Narinder Singh etc. were present on this occasion.
