Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa to Leave for Darbar Sahib Leading a Caravan

Bhai Gurbakhash Singh 31.12.14AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Fulfilling his “last will,” Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa is going to Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Jan 8 leading a caravan of Sikh sangat.

Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa has been observing a hunger strike since Nov 14 for the permanent release of Sikh political prisoner languishing in various jails of India despite having completed their sentences. On the 56th day of the hunger strike, the health condition of Bhai Khalsa turned too critical and doctors had apprehended a threat to his life. They advised that Bhai Khalsa should take medical treatment from the hospital, but he refused to consider the advice. In view of his critical health condition, he has wished to pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib, supreme shrine of Sikhs, and Sri Akal Takht Sahib, highest temporal seat of Sikhs.

As per information shared by Bhai Gurpreet Singh Guri with Sikh24, Bhai Khalsa expressed his will to pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib before sangat.

He said that Bhai Khalsa, along with a large number of Sikh sangat, would leave for Sri Amritsar at 9 AM. The caravan will pass through Amabala city, Rajpura, Sarhind, Mandi Gobindgarh, Khanna, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Phillaur, Guraya, Fagwara, Jalandhar, Kartarpur, Subhanpur, Beas, Rayya, Jandiala Guru etc.

Bhai Khalsa has appealed all Sikh sangat, Sikh organizations, Sikh leaders, Saints, human rights organizations and likeminded political parties to be part of the caravan.

Bhai Khalsa said his struggle is peaceful and will remain peaceful. When he will leave for Sri Amritsar, some Singhs will sit on strike in Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib to continue the strike. The recitation of Sri Japji Sahib will also be continued.
