Dharam Jagran Manch (DJM), a wing of RSS, organized a simple function at Gurdwara Baba Jiwan Singh at the historical town of Guru Ki Wadali, birth place of the sixth Sikh Master Guru Hargobind Sahib ji, where the reconversion took place.

DJM Punjab president Dinesh Sharma and other state leaders Jatinder Pal Gullu, Sardool Singh and Parmjit Singh were present at the function. The DJM team brought the above mentioned Majahbi Sikh families from nearby villages by car. The Granthi Singh of the Gurdwara did Ardas for their homecoming following a recitation of Gurbani. Later, the Granthi Singh and functionaries of DJM honoured the members of the families returning into the fold of Sikhism.

Talking to media persons, Dinesh Sharma said their organization had been collecting data for two years of the Hindu and Sikh people who had converted to Christianity. He said in Punjab 40 percent of the Majahbi community have adopted Christianity and in Amritsar alone around 4000 Majhbi families have gone into the fold of Christianity.

Explaining further, he said for the last one year around 700 families reconverted into their parental religion. He

revealed that SGPC did not cooperate with their ‘Ghar Vapsi’ (homecoming) programme.

Raj Kumar played a key role in the reconversion of the families. He said that 20 years ago, he got converted to Christianity after being misled by a Christian priest and had become a missionary, but he realized after that people are being converted into Christainity on false grounds. Thus he returned to Hinduism 4 years ago. He said that he belonged to a Dalit family and he would not let any Dalit people go into the fold of Christianity.

It is pertinent to mention that Gurdwara Baba Jiwan Singh is only 1 KM away from the historical Gurdwara Guru Ki Wadali and 2 KM from Chheharta Sahib managed under SGPC. Still, SGPC authorities or members had no clue of the function. On being contacted, SGPC spokesperson Diljit Singh Bedi said he had not any knowledge of this function.
