AMBALA, Haryana—Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike has entered 43rd day and his health condition is becoming critical, but the government has not taken any notice so far. Bhai Khalsa has lost 18 Kg of weight and is facing difficulty in speaking which is alarming for entire Sikh nation and human rights activists across the world.
The hunger strike is being observed at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib Patshahi 10th near Ambala (Haryana) for the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite having their imprison terms completed.
Talking to Sikh24.com on phone, Bhai Gurbakhash Singh’s press secretary Bhai Gurpreet Singh Guri said that government is acting as a mute spectator and not responding seriously to meet the demands being raised by Bhai Khalsa.
He said on the 43rd day of the strike, mainly Baba Prem Singh, head Budha Dal 96 Karori Gurdwara Mata Sahib Deva (Maharashtra), Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Avtar Singh Hit (Delhi), Baba Gurinder Singh Maandi etc. visited there at met Bhai Khalsa and showed solidarity with his cause. Besides, Sangat from Punjab and Haryana also visited Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib to support Bhai Khalsa.
On being asked, Bhai Guri said the struggle was receiving great response from Sikhs and humanitarian circles of India and abroad but the government’s rude attitude in this regard has disappointed all. He said if such an attitude continues, dire consequences would be surfaced for which the government would be responsible.
