New President of Indian Youth Congress is Amarinder Singh Raja

NEW DELHI, India—The new elected president of the Indian Youth Congress is Punjab MLA Amarinder Singh Raja. Raja replaces Maharashtra MP Rajiv Satav who resigned so someone new could be appointed and take over his duties as the president.

Janardhan Dwivedi, Congress General Secretary stated that the president of Congress Sonia Gandhi has agreed to make Amarinder Singh Raja the new president of the Indian Youth Congress with immediate effect. Raja is known to be a very close friend of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi and has been on his team for a long time. He was also once elected to the state legislature of Congress ticket from Gidderbaha winning out against SAD nominee and PPP president Manpreet Badal in the 2012 assembly elections.

Amarinder Singh Raja has loomed and is known as an aggressive leader that has also been taking on senior Akali leadership on his home turf as well as theirs.
