Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa’s Strike: Sikh Bodies To Meet Akal Takht Jathedar on Dec 22

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Various Sikh organizations will be meeting Sri Akal Takht Sahib appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh on December 22 over the issue of hunger strike being observed by Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa for release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of India despite the completion of their terms. Sikh bodies will also call him for an explanation over the promise made by him one year ago to have Bhai Khalsa’s strike ended.

Talking to media persons here today, International Sikh Organization (ISO), Sikh genocide crusader Bibi Jagdish Kaur and Bhai Khalsa’s representative Bhai Amritpal Singh said that on 44th day of previous hunger strike of Bhai Khalsa at Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali, Giani Gurbachan Singh had made promise that he would ensure the release of Sikh detainees. Following which Bhai Khalsa had ended his strike.

“After ended the strike, Bhai Khalsa kept on reminding about the promise to the Jathedar time to time. On Oct 30, Bhai Khalsa conducted march in this regard from Gurdwara Amb Sahib Mohali to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. At that time, Bhai Khalsa again remind him about his promise and said if the Jathedar would fail to deliver the promise, he would resume his strike. Receiving unsatisfactory response from the Jathedar, Bhai Khalsa again had to launch his hunger strike on Nov 14 at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib Patshahi Dasveen”, said Amritpal Singh.

Bhai Kanwarbir Singh said health condition of Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa is deteriorating day by day which is matter of concern for Sikh Sangat, but Jathedar of Sikh Takhts and other renowned Sikh leaders have not met Khalsa so far.
