EDMONTON, Canada—Guru Nanak Dev Ji Heart Research Chair will be established in the Nursing Department of the University of Calgary. This initiative will be implemented from next year with the joint efforts of the University of Calgary and Dilwak Foundation.

Founder of Dilwak Foundation and heart specialist Dr. Anmol Kapoor proudly informed that research about the cause and treatment of heart diseases will be done here. He informed that this Chair will be first Chair which will be established based on the founder of the Sikh faith. He said that till now all the chairs are mostly named on figures of the Jewish faith.

Dr. Anmol Kapoor explained that the reason for choosing the name of Guru Nanak Sahib is that he dedicated his whole life in the service of humanity, religion and society. The motive behind this chair is also social service and educating people about heart diseases. Near about one million dollars will be spent on this project during the next five years. The University of Calgary and Dilwak Foundation will participate by ½ million each. As the Dilwak Foundation is a non-profit organization and also the government don’t provide any assistance to this organization, so the organization is organizing some fund raising events on its level.

“Researchers working in this project will go to research about the different heart diseases and then will try to find their cure after researching its origin” said Dr Kapoor. Dilwak Foundation will financially participate in this project but will never interfere in the work of researchers. This Chair will be headed by Dr. Kathrine King, who is researching about the South Asian community.
