BARNALA, Punjab—RSS’ mission to bring Sikh leaders into its fold continues as its leader Gurbachan Mokha met Advocate Rajdev Singh Khalsa at his residence.  Rajdev Singh is a former Akali Dal (Mann) senior leader and a former member of the Parliament.  He was elected as Member of Parliament from Sangrur in 1989 on the ticket of Akali Dal (Mann) led by Simranjit Singh Mann. He has been considered a Panthik leader in past.

Mokha said the meeting was not special and mission of his organization was to spread brotherhood. He said his organization had been working for the Sikh religion since its inception, and now the efforts would be energized more.  Although Advocate Khalsa did not confirm his association with the Hindu right wing terrorist force, he gave indications to join BJP via Rashtrya Sikh Sangat. These negotiations triggered new speculations in Sikh circles.

Other RSS leaders including Satnam Singh, Avinash Rana, Avtar Singh, Vishav Hindu Prishad leader Darshan Tallewalia, Balraj Arora, Deepal Jindal, Raj Dhoorkot, Khalsa’s PA Avtar Singh Sandhu, Advocate Jatinderpal Singh Ugoke etc. were also present in meeting.

It is noteworthy that RSS and its political wing are working on new strategy in Punjab to gain power. For spreading its base here, they are making efforts to make stronghold among Sikh masses. Bringing Sikh faces into their fold is part of the strategy.  BJP and RSS have also shown solidarity with Panthik causes, including extending support to Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa’s struggle for release of Sikh political prisoners, transferring Chandigarh to Punjab, and others.
