Sikh Youth Front To Hold Seminar and Vigil to Remember S. Jaswant Singh Khalra on World Human Rights day

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Sikh Youth Front (SYF) led by Dr. Sharanjit Singh Rataul will be organizing a seminar and candle light vigil here in memory of human rights activist Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra to mark the World Human Rights Day on December 10. The candle light vigil will start from Hall Gate following the seminar.

Talking to media persons in press conference here, Papalpreet Singh, general secretary, and Pritpal Singh, media secretary of SYF, said that their main motive of organizing seminar and candle light vigil in the holy city is to remember the contribution of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra in the struggle for human rights across the world, as well as to spread awareness about the violation of human rights being committed by the Indian state.

The leaders said that S. Khalra did incomparable work in collecting data of about the 25,000 unidentified dead bodies of Sikh youths that were cremated by the Punjab Polices. “These youths were killed by the police extra-judicially in cold blood. For paving the way for legal action against accused police personnel, Khalra was abducted and killed by the police”, they explained.

Bhai Sukhdev Singh, Bhai Satinder Singh, Bhai Harkirat Singh, Bhai Ranjit Singh, Bhai Ranbir Singh, Bhai Tajinder Singh, Bhai Sarabjit Singh, Bhai Naunihal Singh etc. were also present on this occasion.
