Gurbaksh-Singh-Khalsa-begins-hunger-strike-at-Ambala-November-14-2014-e1415962659352AMBALA, Haryana—Earlier today, Sikh crusader Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa started his second hunger strike seeking release of the Sikh political prisoners who have completed their jail terms. He had sat on hunger strike on November 14 exactly one year ago.

Last year, his hunger strike lasted for 44 days which was concluded after receiving assurance from Giani Gurbachan Singh, appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. His strike had left the ruling Akali government worried as Sikhs in large number across Punjab and outside started to show concern for his campaign.

Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa said that finding the promise made by Jathedar not being delivered, he is forced to start the struggle again.

The indefinite fast was initiated today at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib Patshahi 10th near Ambala. He choose this venue in Haryana only after being denied permission by Gurdwaras located across Punjab.  He told Sikh24 that no body is ready to stand against government of Punjab.  He alleged that the Punjab Government had pressed his supporters to take back their support towards the movement.  He thanked the management committee of Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib for accommodating him.

He appealed Sikh nation to gather under one flag in order to make efforts to ensure release of detained Sikhs. He was accompanied by Gurpreet Singh Guri, Gurpiar Singh, Niranjan Singh, Soorja Singh, Balwinder Singh Sian, Inderpreet Singh, Rajwinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Kulwant Singh, Rajvir Singh and other youth.
