TARN TARAN, Punjab—Leaders of various Sikh organizations have submitted a memorandum to district administration demanding ‘Satsang Bhawan’ (function hall) of Noormehal based cult Divya Jyoti Jagarti Sansthan (DJJS) be sealed and its activities be banned.

The organizations included Damdami Taksal, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, Dharam Parchar wing of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Khalsa Panchayat and Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani).

The situation turned tense in the Tarn Taran district following deadly firing on Sikhs by cultists at Jodhpur village which left many Sikh injured. After a few days, the cult followers tried to instigate the religious sentiments of Sikhs by organizing its function at their local ‘Satsang Bhawan.’

Prior to submitting the memorandum, the leaders and local Sikh sangat held a meeting in a Gurdwara here during which they discussed how to restrain anti-Sikh activities of the controversial cult.

They warned that if government would not fulfill the demand of the Sikh sangat, they would make efforts to ensure implementation of the edict issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib in this regard.

The meeting was addressed by Damdami Taksal Ajnala chief Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala (Amritsar) leader Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Joginder Singh Fauji, Bhai Manjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Nishan Singh, Kanwaljit Singh, Suba Singh, Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind, Baldev Singh Sirsa, Balwinder Singh Noordi etc.
