New School for Sikh Studies Opens in Brampton, Ontario

2014-22-10_gbBRAMPTON, Canada—A new school under the name of “Gurmat Bibek Vidyala” has been opened recently in Brampton, Ontario, for the teaching and spreading of Gurmat (Sikh values and beliefs). The school primarily operates on weekends from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm, with a variety of classes focusing around gurbani and gurmat. Classes are open to every age group, from young children to adults, and are divided to accommodate students of varying stages.

The school is devoted to restoring an understanding of Gurmat within the community which is strictly grounded in Gurbani. Gurbani is the central teaching point of all classes taught at the school. The institution strives to inspire all students to take up a lifestyle that is devoted to Sikhi. Most students have begun to attend classes wearing full traditional Sikh attrite (baana) and have started to tie dastars. The impact has also reached the parents of the children attending the classes, as many parents too have started to follow Sikhi with more strictness and love. Many students and parents have also been inspired to take Amrit.

The School was visited by Sevadaars of Sikh24 earlier this year and they had an opportunity to take part in the classes. The sevadaars enjoyed the classes and look forward to an opportunity to attend again in the future.
