Kulwant Singh ‘Valetia’ Acquitted From False Charges

2014-10-19- kulwant singhJALANDHAR, Punjab—Kulwant Singh was arrested by Punjab police in December 2011 and has been in Nabha Jail for 3 years. In the early 90’s he was labelled a terrorist and framed under the Arms & Explosives Act. Knowing he would receive an unfair trial and wrongful imprisonment, he managed to escape from India and made it to Germany first and then to England – hence he has the nickname ‘Valetia’ meaning Britisher. More recently he returned to India and began living there under a different name.

However, eventually the police caught up with him leading to his arrest in 2011. A Jalandhar Court has now acquitted him in this case and Kulwant Singh has one other case pending before he clears his name.
