EAST PALO ALTO, California, USA—Last Wednesday, on September 10, 2014, Amanjeet Singh Chahal of East Palo Alto went missing.  He was supposed to go to school, but he did not show up for school, and has not been seen by his family since. He went with a friend named Angel, another high schooler from his school, and their plan was to go meditate in the woods for 2 years.  Amanjeet Singh Chahal left a note on September 10th stating he wont be coming back home.

Amanjeet Singh Chahal is 15 years of age and stands at about 6 feet tall. He’s always wearing a black keski (turban) and has a small beard. He is the youngest of 4 brothers and oldest of 2 sisters. Amanjeet is a Gursikh boy who is very involved in his religion and is easy to get along with. He is a good student overall and also learns how to play various musical instruments.

“He’s a very good boy, we were all shocked to know that he would run away. His birthday is tomorrow and we just hope we find him in peace,” said his father, Surjit Singh.

Officer Jeff Liu of East Palo Alto is in charge of this case and is investigating from the information he was given. “We were told he was either going to be in Mount Shasta or Black Mountain and we are working with the local agencies around that area in this case,” said officer Liu.

The family was able to get a hold of Amanjeet’s social media accounts and read his messages to his friend Angel about how and where they should go meditate. “From what I read he said he was either going to Black Mountain or Mount Shasta. I just came from Black Mountain and now am driving to Mount Shasta to put up fliers and talk to park rangers and local authorities. I just hope he is well and that I find him in peace,” said Surjit Singh.

If you have any information about where Amanjeet might be or have seen him please contact your local authorities or call any of the numbers on the poster above.
