JHARKHAND, India—Construction of a Hindu temple identical to supreme Sikh shrine Sri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) was restrained after strong opposition from various Sikh organizations and local Sikh sangat.  Construction was going on in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

The temple was being constructed on temporary basis for installing idols of Hindu gods and goddess in wake of Navratra days.

The work on the structure was being carried for last few days. As soon as local Sikhs learnt about it, they cited their objection and opposed the move strongly. Local Sikhs also informed Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC). As a result of strong protests, construction work has been stopped.

The organization responsible for the construction of the temple has offered apology in written.
