Punjab High Court Issues Statement In Relation to Death of Noormehal Dera Chief

ashutosh_1-133CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In relation to prolonging the death announcement of Noormehal based controversial preacher, the Punjab High Court has blamed the Punjab Government for not disclosing all the facts. The Akali Dal Government has been blamed for helping the Noormehal Divya Jyoti Jagran dera in hiding the death of its former chief.

Notably, it has been 8 months since Ashutosh Jha passed away, however his followers have claimed that the dera chief is in a deep smadhi (meditation). However, contrary to their claims, the dead body has been put in a freezer to ensure it does not deteriorate.

The Punjab High Court has asked the government to intervene in the issue and help ensure the last rites of the deceased dera chief.  The high court was moved by family members of Ashutosh, asking for the dead body so they could perform the last rites.  However, the dera management has kept the family away from the premises and have not allowed them any access to the body.
