Khalsa Camp UK and Canada: A Chance to ‘Discover the Spirit Within’

2014-08-04- khalsa campKhalsa Camp will take place this summer looking to provide a new generation of Sikhs with an insight into the Guru’s message.

Khalsa Camp, which is run by the non-profit organisation Khalsa Foundation, was first established in the UK in 1990 and is the longest running Gurmat residential camp in the Western hemisphere. It’s aim was to provide British born Sikhs with the opportunity of learning about Gurmat and have questions answered in a language they could understand, which was not being catered for by the Gurdwareh of the time – some may argue this is still the case 24 years on.

Since its inception in the UK, Khalsa Camp has set up branches in Canada, United States, Australia and India, bringing together the knowledge from inspirational guest speakers and the experience of the Sikh way of life, with Amritvela, Kirtan Darbars, and Langar Seva – many things most campers experience for the first time!

With the motto of Khalsa Foundation being ‘Discover the Spirit Within,’ Khalsa Camp offers campers the chance to gain a deeper knowledge of Gurmat, but then put their knowledge into practice during the camp.

Khalsa Camp seminars are based on Gurbani so that individuals can understand what Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji says to us on any given topic. Many people forget that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the living Guru for the Sikhs and that no matter what your question may be, you will find the answer from Guru Ji, it’s just a matter to searching and understanding the answer. This is where Khalsa Camp looks to connect its campers back to Shabad Guru and help start that relationship of communication.

People aged 16 and over can register for the camp and it caters for anyone who is wanting to learn about Sikhi regardless of whether they are Amritdhari or not.

The dates for the summer Khalsa Camp’s are:

* UK – 24th to 28th August

* Canada – 25th to 30th August

You can book your place by visiting www.KhalsaCamp.com and selecting the relevant area.

So if you have wanted to learn about the deeper meanings of Guru Ji’s message and gain an understanding of the Sikh way of life, then maybe it is time for you to attend Khalsa Camp and ‘Discover the Spirit Within.’
