AMRITSAR SAHIB—While paying homage at Sri Harmandir Sahib yesterday, renowned Punjabi singer Jassi Jasraj (Jasraj Singh Longia) stated that he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections for the betterment of Punjabi people. He publicly stated that he has no intention to seek financial or any other gains and that there is no chance of him selling out.
“Standing in front of Darbar Sahib, I promise that no one will be able to buy me out by money or through physical might…,” said Jassi Jasraj. “Those who ruined the youth of Punjab, disrespected our fathers and humiliated our sisters, will be punished. Doesn’t matter how strong the opposition is, when an ordinary man rises, he gives birth to revolution,” he added.
“Whoever Akal Purakh [God] stands with, that person will be cut, but he shall never bow down,” said Jasraj.
Jassi Jasraj is the Lok Sabha candidate from Bathinda, a hot seat, which is also being contested by Harsimrat Badal and Manpreet Badal. Akali Dal (B) has also fielded a candidate named “Manpreet Singh” possibly trying to mistake identity of the Congress and PPP leader.
