Op/Ed: Extensive Voting in Favour of Indian Politicians Suggest Time Magazine Might Have Been Hacked

This is not the first time that Time Magazine has received such widespread voting. In 2012, the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, received over five million votes. What’s amusing is, most of Kim Jong Un’s admirers were residents of his own country, which remains isolated from the World Wide Web, giving them no access to the Time Magazine’s website.

This year, Narendra Modi is leading the Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” poll. He’s followed by Arvind Kejriwal. Both Indian politicians are most likely driving other contenders crazy as there’s no way to match up to both of them.

In 2012, an internet forum named 4Chan “hacked” poll results to give Kim Jong Un an unprecedented lead. Will we see a similar trend this year as well?

Time Magazine doesn’t always consider the poll results when naming the “Person of the Year.” The person is always picked by its editors.
