JALLANDHAR, Punjab—Sikh Siyasat News and Multimedia, a web-based news and multimedia hub, has recently released a talk-show discussing senior Punjab journalist Kanwar Sandhu’s documentary Operation Blue Star – the Untold Story.
A release by SikhSiyasat.Com states that: [i]n June 2013 Senior Journalist, Kanwar Sandhu and Day and Night News (a 24×7 News channel) presented a nine episode long documentary titled Operation Blue Star – the Untold Story.
This was first effort of it’s kind to present a detailed document on the June 1984 armed attack by Indian army, on Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar (and other Sikh Gurdwaras in Punjab and adjoining states) on TV screens.
Kanwar Sandhu, a journalist, attempted to present his documentary in a well referenced manner, while citing due references to Government Documents, Police or intelligence agencies’ interrogation reports, eye-witness accounts and other published documents or books.
This effort was different from the Indian media’s portrayal of June 1984 events in many ways. At the end of this series Kanwar Sandhu left some questions and asked the audience, especially the Sikhs to deliberate on them.
Keeping in mind the significance of these episodes SikhSiyasat.Com decided to take up this issue in it’s Talk-show program Qaumi Masle.
Sikh Scholar and writer S. Ajmer Singh and retired senior journalist (UNI) S. Jaspal Singh Sidhu participated in these talk-shows, that were conducted by host Baljeet Singh.
SikhSiyasat.Com has prepared two episodes of it’s talk-show titled Qaumi Masle on Kanwar Sandhu’s documentary about operation blue star; first of which was released on last Saturday over YouTube.
“Work done by Kanwar Sandhu was worth notable, and we have attempted to point out positive and negative aspects of this documentary” Paramjit Singh, editor of the Sikh Siyasat News & Multimedia said.
“Kanwar Sandhu’s series had open a new space for debate on Indian army’s attack on Sri Darbar Sahib and dozens of other Sikh Gurdwaras in Punjab and adjoining states on a crucial juncture, 29th anniversary of the attack, so we have attempted to further this debate through our recent episodes.”
He informed that next episode of Qaumi Masle on Kanwar Sandhu’s documentary shall be released on Sikhsiyasat.com on Wednesday, the 24th of July, 2013.
