Green Initiative: Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib to Provide Electric Vehicles for Sangat

ANANDPUR SAHIB—Adopting eco-friendly ways, the Shriomani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee introduced a battery operated car in Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib to facilitate the sangat visiting Anandpur Sahib. The trial car made with an expenditure of Rs.300,000 is currently being trialed over a period of 20 days. Manager Sardar Sukhwinder Singh Grewal said that if no problems are encountered then two more electric vehicles would be introduced at the Anandpur Sahib Bus Station and Railway Station.

With the increasing traffic load, the SGPC had blocked the entry of vehicles around the Gurdwara premises. This proved to be problematic to the hundreds of thousands of devotees visiting Anandpur Sahib who expressed discomfort in climbing the areas of ascent on foot—with the introduction of the mini car the problem is expected to be solved.

Similar battery operated cars are providing service in Amritsar to facilitate the movement of devotees, especially older citizens, to Harimandir Sahib.
