CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A crucial court hearing was held to further discuss the incident of Hondh Chillar that claimed lives of many innocent Sikhs after 1984 Indian Government sponsored terror.  Eight additional witnesses recorded their statements in the court, making the sum of witnesses equal to 18. Atleast 30 innocent Sikhs were victimized at this site in Haryana by mobs.

Leaders of the Hondh Chillar Regulation Committee – Manvinder Singh Giaspur and Bhai Darshan Singh Gholia said that during the session conducted by Home Secretary Jaswant Singh (Deputy DA) and SK Sharma (AD), the victims present were Joginder Singh, Ishwar Singh, Manmohan Singh, Saroop Singh, Ramesh Kumari and Brajesh.

One of the victims, Ramesh Kumari, expressed her sorrow saying that during the attack, her 4 year old son sustained severe head injuries which resulted in the physical and mental retardation of her child.

The murders committed during those times have had a severe impact on the victims which are visible even today.

The court has adjourned the next hearing until May 17th.  The members of Hondh Chillar Party have expressed their unhappiness on court’s decision in delaying justice to the victims.  Manvinder Singh Giaspur and Bhai Darshan Singh stated that the case has been lingering on since April 2011 and the Judge’s term is over in September of 2013.

They have accused the Central Congress government for not taking immediate steps in providing relief to the victims.
