BREAKING NEWS: Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar Mercy Plea Dismissed; Faces Execution Threat

[article_date] In a press statement it was announced by the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) that it will approach Germany regarding Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar’s death sentence.  Prof. Bhullar was deported from Germany to India under condition that it would not try him under TADA.  German authorities at that time had pressed Indian officials to hold fair trail and not grant death penalty since death sentence is against German and International law.

The press statement comes after Supreme Court dismissed the mercy plea of Prof. Bhullar.  Prof. Bhullar’s lawyers had submitted a plea to commute the death penalty and convert it to life imprisonment.  The decision comes as a shock to the Sikh Nation as Prof. Bhullar has suffered immense torture in the past decade is not mentally stable to face such a heinous punishment.  Furthermore his crimes have not been fully investigated and there remains a big doubt over the changes that have been labelled against him.

As per the press statement issued by Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed, in 2011 Germany’s Ambassador to India Thomas Matussek had alleged that Germany would make an appeal to the Indian Government to stop the execution of Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar.  Peer Mohammed further stated that it was a “black day” in history of India since innocent Sikhs are being awarded with death sentence while the instigators of 1984 pogroms are roaming free.

Bhai Kanwarpal Singh of Dal Khalsa also lashed out at the Supreme Court of India for awarding death penalty to Prof. Bhullar on mere basis of “confessional statement taken under police torture.”  He labelled the judgement as “shocking and disturbing”.  Similar reactions have been expressed other Panthik Jathebandis.  The SGPC too has condemned the judgement while stating that the judicial system is “biased”.

  1. India should step into the civilised world and stop killing people on evidence gained through torture. Also to hang someone who has already served a life sentence is barbaric and inhumane. India should be trying those people who killed innocent civilians in 1984. But they can’t do that as they are implicated in it themselves.

  2. Any sikh that has the best interests of the majority in his heart deserves respect and gratitude for his actions. He should not be on death row for bringing down cowards!! WJKK WJKF

  3. Great reporting sikh24, keep up the great work. I have just read Hindustan Times article and it is an absolute joke. So biased. At least some organisations like yourselves are getting the truth out there on the web.

I hope as I panth we can save Davinderpal Singh Bhullar.
