Luton Rape Case Update: Sikh Community Failed by Police

LUTON, UK—Police have come under serious criticism following lack of action with regards to a grooming case.  As per recently received information, family of the the teenage girl who was being groomed and blackmailed by a man reportedly of Pakistani descent using sexual exploitation, had approached police at least four times but had little progress in prosecuting the individuals involved.

On Monday a serious sexual assault took place involving the kidnapping and rape of the teenage Sikh girl by two men, one reportedly from Pakistan, while the other is said to be from Afghanistan. Tensions last night were running high at an emergency meeting called by the local community in Luton which was attended by over 300 Sikhs.  After the meeting, all those present marched to local police station demanding answers and swift action regarding rape case which had taken place.

Although initially the police refused to engage in positive talks, later during a press statement Bedfordshire police stated, “Police in Luton are currently in talks with members of the Sikh community who are holding a sit-down protest outside Buxton Road police station.”

“Their concerns follow a report that a young woman from their community was sexually assaulted on Monday. The allegations are currently subject of an investigation and all parties involved are being spoken with to establish the facts. One man had been arrested in connection with the allegation and inquiries continue.”

Members of the Sikh Community Protesting outside local police station

The person arrested in connection with this case has today been bailed and is to appear at Luton magistrates court on charge of assault.

Leaders of Sikh community are now demanding answers from local police and authorities as to lack of action and slow response by the police.  Hundreds of demonstrators congregated outside Buxton Road police station on Tuesday night to air their concerns about Monday’s alleged attack.

Similar attacks have taken place in past however police has failed to secure justice for those victimized by assaults.  “Grooming” or coerced relationships are a tactic that has been reported to be used by radical Muslim groups for the purpose of conversions. A simple Google search with the terms “grooming of girls UK” reveals a slew of information on this topic.

Editor’s Note:

The Editors at Sikh24 are heartbroken to hear of this story and saddened that more steps aren’t being taken to address a problem that seems to be widespread. We hope that the media attention garnered from this case will help put pressure on authorities to take cases like this more seriously in order prevent further victims.  The victimization knows no boundaries, multiple races, religions have been targeted in a manner that is not in line with a civilized society.

  1. I know the facts you dont. you cant admit the fact that she was his girlfriend. couples have arguements and some go to far. look at the history of rape by asians and tell me what pattern you see. I aint shooting no arrows. you need to understand the facts. the guy is being charged with affray. why do you think that is. its not rocket science. why did the family not say her bouyfriend beet her up, why dont they mention the term buyfriend. becouse they are asshamed. 250 rallied and you dont know the facts or refuce to look it to the matter with an open mind,

  2. @the truthe . u r throwing arrows in sky and hoping dat it vl hit target . parents of victim reported 4 times case of blackmail but police haven’t take it seriously so this rape happen . first read the report carefully den give comments.

  3. Totally agree with Steve, why is this even in the news ? Today in the US they arrested 190 men and freed 18 children from a pedo ring, none of them are Muslims. This case was hyped by the EDL and others. Some Sikh leaders said ‘We should be protected because we are a minority’, what has that got anything to do with it ? You have more chance of British justice than an Indian one.

At the moment the man has been charged for Assault, not rape, a big difference. By the way I am a Muslim revert, no one held a gun to my head.

  4. why was my comment deleted. If you struggle to display the truth or opinion on your own site how do you expect others to to follow. lead by example.
the girl was the girlfriend of the boy accused. To save face and embarassment this whole grooming issue was raised along with rape. she is over 18. she been the muslims girlfriend for a while and no doubt in a sexual relationship. they got in to an argument he slapped her. you accuse someone of rape to save your family embarassment. All will come out in court. texts, pictures. you will then embarass your whole community. Protest for the girl getting slapped and caught. not rape and grooming untill proven . what is the real issue here. the fact she was going out with a muslim guy

  5. Firstly as a human being, I offer my sympathy to the victim, as a Muslim I am sorry the perpetrator shared my faith. He should be seen as a common criminal without religious attachment. Any Religion would not sanction such acts not now, not never. This crime is no more & no less to the middle aged men going to the Far East to engage in sexual acts with minors.

I have faith in the British justice but until the perpetrator is proven guilt by the law of court he should be treated as innocent and if guilty I for on would be happy to switch on the electric chair if such punishment was valid in this country.

Not all decent Muslemans condone such acts.

  6. Any rape by anyone should receive the harshest punishment possible. Being a Muslim I find it disgusting and outrageous that this twat has been bailed if true!

  7. the sikhs got involved because the family of the girl was being intimidated not to go to the police, also the family is religious so the sikhs will look out for them.

  8. Steve, i dont think its right to say “where are the Sikhs when a white girl gets raped”. This is a horrible act no matter who it is. Also, i would like to add, when an old english women in barking was being mugged he helped her, protected her and was stabbed by the criminal, he lost his life to protect a women he did not know. There are countless stories like this, its not fair you say that Steve.

  9. This was a bad move by the sikhs. They sold out to the EDL. They will now forever be known as sell outs. If they think EDL likes them then think again. EDL needs support and publicity and they hate all blacks so its time the sikh community woke up and saw what is happening

  10. Hundreds of rapes happen every day. Where does these sikhs be when a white girl is raped. Just because its a sikh girl or a pakistani guy doesnt mean the case is any different from other rape cases around the country. As usual its sikhs thinking they are different and mote important again. I doubt she was raped. Its a made up story by the EDL and the sikhs

    • You are right, any rape that happens is tragic, however it takes something happening close to home for people to realize how large the problem is. When something happens in a tight knit community it causes the community to rally together. Further, the issue is beyond that of 1 rape – if you look at the problem of grooming in the UK it becomes clear that this is a widespread problem. As for guilt, I will reserve judgment until the judicial process decides but I feel as though your comment only marginalizes victims.
