Gurdwara Vice President Awarded New Year’s Honour

Gravesend, UK—Gravesend’s newly built and opened Sikh Gurdwara is celebrating once again with the announcement that Vice President Bakhshish Singh Sodhi will be awarded a New Year’s Honour.

The Management Committee of Gravesend Gurdwara  is said to be delighted that Vice President, Bakhshish Singh Sodhi, has been awarded an MBE by [the] Queen in the New Year’s Honours List.

Secretary of the largest Gurdwara in Europe, Narinderjit Singh said, “I am delighted that Mr Sodhi’s contribution to building good community relations in Gravesend over a period of some 35 years has been recognised with such a prestigous  award. I have personally known him for over  40 years and he is a modest person who goes about his business quietly but effectively.  He has worked hard to build and help maintain good race relations in Gravesend. As the Senior Vice President of the Gurdwara he has already brought forward many ideas for how the Gurdwara should become an attraction for all communities living in and visiting Gravesham.”

Local Councillor, Brian Sangha, added, ” There are many, many unsung heroes in Gravesham who do so much to help build safe, strong communities. Mr Sodhi has over a long period of time set a good example for others to follow. His award is recognition of his immense contribution to harmonious race relations in Gravesham”.
